縄文時代の土器のかけらです。
出土品で、実際に地中から掘り出されたもの。
表面はざらざらとしていて、
部分的に黒っぽく焼けたようなあとが残っています。
突起のような模様がいくつか並んでいて、
装飾だったのか、何かの機能だったのか、想像がふくらみます。
大きさは手のひらにすっぽりおさまるくらい。
置いておくだけでも、空間がちょっとだけ変わる感じがあります。

A fragment of Jomon-era pottery.
An excavated artifact, actually unearthed from the ground.
The surface is coarse to the touch,
with some blackened marks that look like traces of fire.
Several bump-like patterns line one edge—
were they decorative, or did they serve a purpose? It’s fun to imagine.
It fits neatly in the palm of your hand.
Even just placing it somewhere seems to subtly change the atmosphere of the space.
